Description

Are university students committed to their social environment? In this Project, students belonging to some particular English courses at Universidad Javeriana discuss about their learning style, develop classroom strategies to learn and design classroom materials as a way of empowerment which will lead them lately to interact with some vulnerable children from an elementary school of a lower social economic neighborhood in the east side of Cali. During this process much discussion and reflection is done by university students in order to determine their role and contribution to improve the language learning process of their mates at the elementary school. Both academic and social learning take place because all students exchange their knowledge and their personal experiences. Expected results on the side of university students might include some awareness on the environment surrounding their mates at the elementary school and the importance of giving to others what they learn.
