Description
This research project is part of a recent and dynamic sub–discipline of Economics called Cultural Economics. The aim is to analyse the determinants of participation in performing arts in Colombia with special reference to the participation gap between high and low educational levels and socioeconomic stratum. To achieve this, we estimate participation equations through probit models. Microdata are taken from the 2008 Survey of Cultural Consumption for Colombia. The results contribute to a better understanding of individual behaviour towards consumption of cultural goods and therefore to the improvement of the country’s cultural policy.
