Intervention on parenting practices to promote healthy habits in early childhood: Phase II Evidence shows an actual concern on identifying risks factors related to children’s health problems. Most of the main causes of death and morbidity in children between 0 to 5 years old are related to obesity, overweight or malnutrition. Previous research have evidenced that children lifestyles’ behaviors, such as eating habits, physical activity and sedentary behaviors, have an important role in this health problems. Research and interventions have focused on parenting influences in children’s healthy habits, considering the role of child rearing in the formation of behaviors and attitudes. also, an interest in early childhood has grown, since healthy habits are established in first years of life and remains in adulthood. The purpose of the present study is to design, conduct and evaluate an intervention to enhance rearing practices used by parents of children between 1 and 5 years to promote healthy habits (eating habits and physical activity). a quasi experimental study will be conducted with 40 parents of children attending childcares. Parenting practices will be evaluated before and after intervention. Two follow-ups will be conducted, 3 and 6 months after the end of intervention (during the third phase of the study).
