Description

The purpose of this research project is to improve the empirical evidence on the relationship between asia Pacific and Latin america. Particularly, we examine the extent to which asia’s economic growth affects the four nations that form the Pacific alliance, Pa, (Mexico, Peru, Chile and Colombia). To understand how economic growth in asia can impact the economic behavior of Pa countries, we also analyze the links between these two regions. We propose to estimate a Bayesian vector autoregression (BVaR) model and analyze the impulse-response functions to investigate the reaction of economic growth, terms of trade and inflation of each of the members of the Pa to a demand shock in emerging asia.
