Description
Bleeding complications associated with childbirth are the leading cause of maternal death worldwide and the second cause of mortality in Colombia. For intervention strategies have been designed for pharmacological intervention implemented at the time of delivery, but the assessment of bleeding indifferent studies has been based on subjective visual assessments of the amount of bleeding. This visual methodology involves serious problems of internal validity of these studies because the deviation from the true value reaches 46% when compared to some objective measure quantitatively. For this reason the present study seeks to design a methodology for measuring postpartum bleeding based on a priori knowledge of the weight of the bleeding at different volumes and constructing a mathematical equation based on linear regression to establish the relationship between volumes – weight and evaluate the participation of other covariates.
