Detection of underground buried objects: dubo, phase 1: measurement of electromagnetic and geophysics properties of soil

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

In this work, we will study the geophysical properties of lateritic and non-lateritic soils to estimate, by using electromagnetic models based on pedotransfer semi-empirical models, the complex electromagnetic properties of the soils, i.e. relative complex permittivity and permeability. To validate these models, an innovative technique will be designed, built and calibrated. This technique will use cylindrical samples of soil located at the end of a coaxial probe, then the EM properties will be calculated from the reflection coefficient measured with a vector network analyzer (VNa) in a range of frequency from 100 MHz to 3 GHz. This range of frequency fits in the range for GPR applications.
