Mundialmente, la población está envejeciendo, lo cual conlleva una incidencia y prevalencia de enfermedades crónicas y degenerativas en aumento y por ende, un aumento en muertes causadas por estas enfermedades (6). La población Colombiana todavía está joven, pero está envejeciendo rápidamente, y como resultado, el número de pacientes con cáncer y otras enfermedades crónicas está en aumento
