Description
Drawing on recent empirical findings and guidelines from the academic, public health and public policy fields, the project aims to provide an in-depth description on the knowledges, practices, beliefs and social meanings that underlie current processes of communication on the topic of sexuality, amongs paretns and teenagers in two Colombian cities. Moving towards an integrated methodological design, the study considers an initial phase where a quantitative analysis of paired-questionnaires (parent – teenage son/daughter) will describe the mian characteristics of theses processes of communications, regarding its dynamics, topics, sources and challenges. a second stage will address both parents and teenagers through a qualitative analysis of the views values and social meanings they assing and percieve on the subject. as partners for the fieldwork, the project will have a liason with the public health offices in both cities, and will work closely with schools in the selected areas. Outcomes will expect to have an impact on the flieds of socilogical and psychological analysis, as well as in the design of public health, education and public policy initiatives.
