Description
Public transportation is a key ingredient in the solution of typical problems of urban areas, such as pollution, noise, accidentally and traffic congestion. In order to reduce some of this problems and increasing the mobility of citizens, many cities in Colombia have deployed bus rapid transport systems – BRT. These systems require the development of planning methodologies and operation models suitable to their characteristics in the context of Colombian cities. This research proposal aims to propose methodologies and solutions for the operation, planning and design of the mass transport system in Cali, Colombia. This project is conceived as the initial stage for the establishment of a research line in Public Transport Systems in the School of Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana – Cali. 9
