Yolima del Pilar Torres Ruiz is a full professor at Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. She holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, a Master's degree in Biochemistry, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. Her research is primarily focused on elucidating the role of ion channels in cellular physiology, with a particular interest in TRP and BK channels.

Her work centers on understanding how minor alterations in the expression and activity of these channels can lead to various diseases.
