Yolima del Pilar Torres Ruiz is a full professor at Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. She holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, a Master's degree in Biochemistry, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. Her research is primarily focused on elucidating the role of ion channels in cellular physiology, with a particular interest in TRP and BK channels.
Her work centers on understanding how minor alterations in the expression and activity of these channels can lead to various diseases. She is affiliated with the Experimental and Computational Biochemistry research group, where she collaborates interdisciplinary with experts from other fields to address common research questions
