Professor and researcher at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Sciences, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Master in Microbiology and Doctor in Biological Sciences, Immunobiology and Cellular Biology Group (MinCiencias A1). Professor in the area of Hematology for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Leader of the research line “Stem cell biology” with 25 years of experience in the study of human stem cells, developing different research projects and publications with undergraduate and graduate students in hematological diseases (leukemia and myeloma) and tissue regeneration. She was the main author of the first publication made in Colombia on human stem cells (Rodríguez VM et al, Biomédica 2006) and led the design, analysis and publication, in collaboration with ICONTEC, of the first International ISO standard on the use of stem cells. (mesenchymal cells) called Biotechnology — Biobanking — Requirements for human mesenchymal stromal cells derived from bone marrow (ISO 24651), which is also available as a Colombian technical standard.
