Personal profile
Associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. From 2023 to 2025, she served as director of the Department of Anthropology. She is an anthropologist with a master’s degree in history from the National University of Colombia and a Ph.D. in social sciences from the State University of Campinas (IFCH-UNICAMP) in Brazil.
Her research falls within the field of political anthropology, with a special focus on the processes of state formation, the anthropology of public policy, the dynamics of social mobilization, and processes of political experimentation. She also has extensive experience in research and teaching in historical anthropology, particularly regarding the formation of historical memories, narratives, and regimes of legibility in rural areas.
Her work has focused on peasant-based social movements in southwestern Colombia and the Sumapaz region, as well as on the analysis of agrarian reform, territorial struggles, processes of territorialization, and the ways in which members of these movements are involved in the reconfiguration of the commons. These studies engage with historical materialism, contemporary feminisms and anarchisms, critical geography, and the affective turn.
Finally, in her work with peasant organizations, she has been exploring methodologies grounded in collaboration.
