Es profesor titular del Departamento de Economía de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali y parte del equipo de trabajo del Indicador Mensual de Actividad Económica (IMAE) para diferentes regiones de Colombia. Ha sido investigador invitado en la Universidad de Columbia, Universidad de Harvard, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de Oslo y en el Institute of Developing Economies (Japan External Trade Organization). Consultor del Banco Mundial, Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, PNUD, Banco de la República de Colombia, Brookings Institution y Atlantic Council. Sus principales temas de investigación están relacionados con los indicadores de actividad económica, las reformas económicas y la política monetaria.
