    Johan Andrés Nieto has been affiliated with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2024 and currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Theology. He is the Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Publications Office of the Faculty of Theology and also the Editor of the journal Theologica Xaveriana. He carries out teaching duties in the faculty’s academic programs and conducts research in the fields of mystagogy, pedagogy of theology, and the anagogical theological method.

    He has conducted various research projects on topics related to theology, education, human development, popular education, and research methodology.

    He has also served as an academic peer reviewer for MinCiencias and for the Ministry of Education, as well as a reviewer for different scientific publications at the national and international levels. He has worked as a theological advisor on ecclesial matters, priestly, religious, and lay formation.

    His main research interests include mystagogy as pedagogy of theology, liturgy and sacramentality, lay formation, popular education, human development, narrativity, and research methodology.

    Over the years, he has published a considerable number of original articles, books, and book chapters (with more than 1010 citations) in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.

    He also serves as a reviewer for journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, Publindex, and other indexing databases, in the fields of theology, sacramentology, pedagogy of theology, mystagogy, Church Fathers, popular education, didactics, human development, narrative method, and research methodology.
