    Personal profile

    Ecologist from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (1997-2002), and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM; 2002-2007). Postdoctoral experience at the Museum of Zoology-UNAM (2007-2008). I was the Coordinator of Ecosystem Services at Conservation International, Colombia (2008-2011), leading projects in biodiversity management and public policy in territorial planning, biodiversity offsets, and conservation. I have been an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Environmental and Rural Studies at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2011, and I was the director of the undergraduate program in Ecology (2012-2015). I was the Regional Coordinator for Colombia of the IUCN Amphibian Specialist Group, contributing to the extinction risk assessment of over 820 species for the country and to the development of the "National Program for the Conservation of Amphibians in Colombia and its Action Plan 2024-2033". Currently, I am the Global Co-Chair of the habitat protection and management working group of the IUCN Amphibian Specialist Group where I participate in updating the Action Plan for the Global Conservation of Amphibians (ACAP). I was a member of the board of directors of the Colombian Association of Herpetology and am a co-founder of the social appropriation of knowledge initiative: “Ciencia pa'sumercé”.
