    Miguel Andrés Otálora Baquero has been associated with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2015 and with the San Ignacio University Hospital since 2003 and is currently an instructor professor in the Department of Pediatrics. He teaches in undergraduate medicine programs, postgraduate specialization in pediatrics and specialization in neonatology, and research in the field of neonatology.

    He has conducted research on topics of necrotizing enterocolitis, prenatal and postnatal growth curves, and participates in research projects of other peers in the department. He has been coordinator of undergraduate rotations in the newborn unit of the San Ignacio University Hospital.

    The professor's main interests include the care of newborns with cardiovascular pathologies, pre- and postoperative management of patients with congenital heart disease and extracorporeal life support (ECMO), with certification in the subject by ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization), as well as topics of mechanical ventilation in newborns and diagnosis and management of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis.
