    Overview

    Personal profile

Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He analyzes how economic dependence, official aid, and the rule of law shape the decisions of States. Carlos also studies the factors that determine the governance capacity of non-state actors and civil resistance actions as a negotiation mechanism; and more recently, he has studied political representation, focusing on the challenges of access to power faced by women and non-traditional organizations. His current lines of research explore how electoral regulation benefits traditional parties and how political polarization affects horizontal accountability. Additionally, he analyzes how competition among non-state actors can prolong the life of rebel alliances.
