    Personal profile

    Doctor in History and Professor in the Department of History and Geography at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She has nine years of experience in university teaching and fifteen years of research in the field of Environmental History, focusing on issues related to agricultural and livestock practices and climate reconstruction between the 16th and 19th centuries. The results of her research have been published in two books, nine book chapters, and twelve articles in peer-reviewed journals specializing in History and Environmental Studies, in addition to outreach materials and two edited volumes.

    She is a member of the research group History, Environment, and Politics (A1 classification by MinCiencias) and of LAB MULTIDES, a laboratory for methodologies, analysis, and multidisciplinary interpretation for the study of climate and disasters (affiliated with the Universidad Autónoma de Chile). She is also a member and secretary of the Board of Directors of the Latin American and Caribbean Society for Environmental History (SOLCHA) and of the Climate History Network.

    She has been a visiting researcher at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Spain) and the University of Reading (United Kingdom), a guest lecturer in postgraduate courses at the University of Costa Rica and FLACSO Ecuador, and a speaker at several Colombian universities. She was a professor at Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (2018-2023).

    She has served as guest editor for thematic issues of the Anuario de Historia Regional y de las Fronteras, Ciencia Nueva Revista de Historia y Política, Anuario Colombiano de Historia Social y de la Cultura, and Fronteiras: Revista Catarinense de Historia. She is a member of the editorial board of Climates and Cultures in History, published by White Horse Press.

    Through her work in teaching, research, and community outreach, her main contributions have focused on training new researchers in the field of environmental history at undergraduate and master's levels, and on strengthening the line of research in Climate History in Colombia and Latin America. In this area, from regional and comparative perspectives, she has focused on pre-instrumental periods, with an emphasis on the 16th to 19th centuries, aiming to reconstruct social response strategies to hydrometeorological pressures that, in the context of current global change, are increasingly relevant.
