Marlon Mauricio Bustos Claro has been associated with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2011 and is currently an Instructor Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He teaches in undergraduate and graduate academic programs at the Faculty of Medicine and conducts research in the field of chronic adult diseases, acute and chronic communicable infectious diseases in adults.

During his career, he has conducted research activities in cardiovascular diseases, COVID-19 infection during the pandemic, human rabies encephalitis, tuberculosis infection and malaria, the use of artificial intelligence in chronic diseases, citation activities for internal medicine journals on social networks, and poisonings and adverse drug reactions. Currently, he is the coordinator of undergraduate activities for the seventh semester of the Medicine Program at San Ignacio University Hospital. He also coordinates and participates in the activities of the Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. 

His main research interests are related to chronic diseases, infectious diseases in adults, and patient care in special populations and conditions. Additionally, he is interested in developing health research processes for the production of medical information using scientific evidence for health decision-making.

Over the years, he has published articles with impact on the general population and the scientific community, reaching more than 35 citations, in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
