Personal profile
María del Pilar Márquez Cardona has been affiliated with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2006 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. She teaches courses in several academic programs, including Biology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Bioengineering, Bacteriology, and Nutrition and Dietetics, mainly in the areas of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.
Her research focuses on the propagation, characterization, improvement, and sustainable use of plant resources, with a particular emphasis on agrobiodiversity and biotechnology. She has led multiple projects aimed at advancing scientific knowledge and fostering public engagement with knowledge.
Her main research interests include the characterization of agrobiodiversity and the recovery of various Andean tuber species, promoting their conservation and sustainable use.
