Full-time Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, with more than 28 years of teaching, research, and technical experience, combining academia with the productive sector. His career began as a Young Researcher at Cenicafé (scholarship from the Inter-American Development Bank -IDB-), where he carried out studies on the sensory quality of Colombian coffee and the chemical composition of the fruit, strengthening his focus on research applied to national agribusiness. He has led more than 30 research projects in pharmacognosy & phytochemistry, chemistry & natural products technology, biomass and biorefineries, analytical chemistry, food chemistry, environmental chemistry, metabolomics, cosmetics & pharmaceuticals technology, oral health and biomaterials, promoting the use of native plant species and agro-industrial waste in the development of bioactive products, functional foods, and regenerative scaffolds. In the private sector, he worked as an analyst specialised in quality engineering and as a technical advisor at Sociedad Corporativa Alpina S.A., as technical director of Antek S.A., carrying out planning, supervision, and execution of projects for companies such as Ecopetrol, Shell, Texaco, Bavaria, Coca-Cola, Merck, Boehringer Ingelheim, Schering Plough, Pfizer, Scandinavia Pharma, and Johnson Diversey, among others. In these contexts, he implemented ISO 9001, ISO 17025, HACCP, KOSHER, HALAL, and NTC quality management systems, and developed and validated analytical methods by GC-FID/ECD/MS, HPLC-DAD/MS, AAS, UV-Vis, RAMAN and FTIR for the evaluation of contaminants, nutrients, and functional compounds. He has more than 60 scientific publications, has directed more than 30 undergraduate and graduate theses, and actively participates as a reviewer of scientific journals. He has been recognised with national research awards, doctoral scholarships, and academic distinctions, standing out for his interdisciplinary approach that links chemistry, biotechnology, public health, materials science, and sustainability.
