    Overview

    Personal profile

My research focuses on the taxonomy, phylogeny, and biodiversity of Lepidoptera, especially the family Notodontidae (although I have also worked with other groups such as Saturniidae, Mimallonidae, Geometridae, and others), using an approach that integrates morphology, genetics, collection inventories, field sampling, and occurrence databases. I have published more than 15 articles and contributed to books, field guides, and scientific presentations. Some recent projects include: Classification, biology, and ecology of Notodontidae, with an emphasis on the subfamily Nystaleinae in the Neotropics. Studies on plant-pollinator interactions. Inventories and annotated checklists. Studies in urban areas to document entomological diversity in school and urban areas in Bogotá. Teaching and developing research skills at preschool, primary, and secondary school levels. I am part of national and international research networks and contribute to the training of undergraduate and graduate students. I am also deeply committed to science outreach: through Barbie Entomologist, I have developed creative initiatives that bring entomology closer to diverse audiences, especially children and young people. I design and produce materials such as illustrated posters, insect-themed embroidery, talks, and workshops, combining art and science to spark curiosity, promote conservation, and demonstrate that the study of insects can be inclusive, engaging, and relevant.
