Personal profile

Laura Vargas joined the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2024 and is currently a professor in the Department of Language Studies. She teaches in the Language Studies degree program and conducts research in fields such as translation teaching, decolonial theory, Afrofeminism, and Caribbean literature.

She is currently conducting research on gamification in translation teaching and serves as co-coordinator of Track 1 of the Department of Language Studies.

Her main research interests include trauma-informed pedagogies, gender and sexuality, decolonial theory, intersectionality, social justice, and Caribbean literature.

The professor has published articles in prestigious journals such as Archipelagos Journal and the Journal of Haitian Studies. She has also served as Managing Editor of Palimpsest Journal since 2023.
