Chemist and Doctor in Chemical Sciences from the National University of Colombia, with over 10 years of experience in scientific research in the fields of natural products, biotechnology, and agro-industrial applications. She completed postdoctoral studies at the same institution, focusing on natural product chemistry with applications in the agricultural sector, particularly in the development of strategies for pest control in economically important crops.

Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and a member of the Phytochemistry Research Group at Javeriana University (GIFUJ). Her research has been focused on various fields. In the agricultural sector, she has developed strategies for the control of stored grain insect pests and phytopathogenic fungi affecting key crops in Colombian agriculture. In the pharmaceutical field, she has studied bioactive compounds with inhibitory activity on digestive enzymes associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes, as well as the development of cosmetics and functional foods or medical-purpose foods derived from non-timber forest products. In biotechnology, she has conducted research on the production of secondary metabolites in cell suspension cultures and the biosynthesis induction in Piper species through in vitro culture and elicitation techniques.
