Juan Alberto Casas Ramírez is a full-time associate and regular professor in Biblical Theology at the School of Theology of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He has been a visiting professor of Biblical interpretation at several universities and institutes in Colombia and Latin America.

He has taught Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to the New Testament, Synoptic Gospels, Gospel of John, Book of Revelation, Parabiblical and apocryphal literature methods, methodology of theological research, and Latin American Biblical Hermeneutics of the Old Testament.

His fields of research and publication are related to School Religious Education, the Gospel of John, the Gospel of Mark, Contextual Reading of the Bible, and Biblical Hermeneutics.

He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, and has been a member of the editorial boards of the journals Perseitas (ISSN 2346-1780), Cuestiones teológicas (ISSN 2389-9980), Caritas Veritatis (ISSN 2539-5033), Argumenta Biblica Theologica (ISSN 2665-4369) and Revista Bíblica (ISSN 2683-7153). He is a member of the editorial board of the "Yearbook on Contextual Bible Interpretation" of the Center for Contextual Bible Interpretation at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is part of the research group Didaskalia. He is a member of the Research and Ethics Committee of the School of Theology.
