Physician-National University of Colombia (1994). Master in Epidemiology-Universidad del Valle (2002). Field epidemiologist at the INS (2010). PhD in Public Health & Epidemiology from the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico (2011). With 30 years of professional experience, 24 years of teaching experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, demography and research methodology. He has been director, coordinator, advisor and co-investigator in research projects in areas such as epidemiology and prevention of injuries from external causes (intentional and unintentional), health situation analysis, maternal and perinatal health, public health surveillance, among others. Author of more than 60 publications (books, book chapters and articles in indexed journals). He was Technical Director of the Public Health Research Directorate of the INS (2016-2017). He is currently a Senior Researcher at Minciencias and Associate Professor at the Public Health Institute of the Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá).
