Personal profile

Jorge Alberto Escobar Vargas, Bogota (Colombia). Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Department, School of Engineering, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia.

Address: Carrera 7 No. 40 – 62, Edificio José Gabriel Maldonado – Laboratorios.

E-mail: [email protected]

Nationality: Colombia.

Civil Engineer with postgraduate studies in hydrosystems, numerical methods, computational fluid mechanics, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Fluid Mechanics. With a solid foundation in environmental hydrodynamics, computational techniques for simulating environmental flows, and hydrometry associated with rivers, seas, groundwater, marshes, floods, and avalanches, among others. Specific experience working in modeling teams associated with interdisciplinary problems such as flood hazard zoning and flash floods, surface water/groundwater interaction, early warning system design, water quality modeling, project impacts on socio-ecological systems, issues regarding water boundaries, and delineation in complex marshy areas. Special interest in the implementation, development, and use of numerical simulation tools in real-world problems and their integration with comprehensive water resource monitoring strategies.
