Jorge Andrés López Rivera holds a PhD in Political Science from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá). He works at the intersection of political and social theory and the sociology of morality. He is especially interested in the moral dimension of politics and colombian civil war: the languages through which actors, including armed actors, account for what they do and contest their legitimacy. Methodologically, he works with documentary analysis and develops qualitative tools for studying meaning and values in political texts. He is the author of Crisis: lógica, metáfora e interés (Ediciones Uniandes, 2011) and of articles on critical theory, social ontology, and rational choice theory, and he teaches courses on social theory and qualitative methods.
