German Roberto Mahecha Clavijo

German Roberto Mahecha Clavijo has been affiliated with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 1998 and is currently an Associate Professor at the Center for Theological Formation within the Faculty of Theology. He teaches in the field of Theology and Nature, with courses such as Theology and Ecology, Care for Our Common Home, and Ecology and Religions. His research focuses on the fields of Ecotheology and Integral Ecology.

He has conducted research on topics including Ecotheology, Religious Education in schools, and the Global Compact on Education within the educational sector. Since 2015, he has led the Ecotheology Research and Reflection Group (GIRE), and since 2022, the Integral Ecology Reflection Group. Additionally, he has served as a visiting professor at several institutions, including Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Cali), the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (Brazil), DePaul University (Chicago), and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

Professor Mahecha Clavijo also serves as an advisor to the Episcopal Conference of Colombia (CEC), the Conference of Religious of Colombia (CRC), the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (Colombia), and the District Secretariat of Environment (Bogotá).

His primary research interests include Ecotheology, Integral Ecology, and Religious Education. Over the years, he has published numerous articles, books, and book chapters based on his research.
