Personal profile
Dentist, Master of Biomedical Sciences, and PhD in Humanities (specializing in the cultural history of Colombia). He is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali (Colombia) and an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Health at the Universidad del Valle (Colombia). For 25 years, he has directed his research interests toward the bioanthropological and ethnohistorical study of contemporary Colombian populations. Over the last 10 years, he has focused his attention on the study of colonial slave-owning haciendas (including the Hacienda de Cañasgordas) and how they became the point of origin for today's Afro-descendant and/or Black populations in the southwestern region of the Cauca River Valley.
