    Personal profile

    Eduardo Gerlein obtained his BEng in Electronics from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia) in 2002 and his Master of Science in Electronics Engineering in 2008 from the same institution. Between January 2003 and June 2005, he served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Electronics Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, within the Intelligent Systems, Robotics, and Perception group. He was then appointed as Instructor Professor in the Electronics Department at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

    In the summer of 2009, Gerlein was selected for a Summer Research Internship at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware (Newark, USA), under the supervision of Professor Sylvain Cloutier, focusing on the development of the Semiconductor Devices course.

    In June 2016, he received his Ph.D. from Ulster University (Northern Ireland, UK), based at the Intelligent Systems Research Centre (Londonderry, Northern Ireland) as part of the Capital Markets Engineering Group. Under the supervision of Professor Martin McGinnity, Dr. Ammar Belatreche, and Dr. Sonya Coleman, his research was aimed at developing hardware architectures for multi-agent systems in FPGA for financial applications.

    Research Interests: Robotics, Multi-Agent Systems, Embedded Systems, Digital Systems Design, Bioengineering.
