Personal profile

Edgar Antonio López López joined the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 1996 and is currently a full professor at the Faculty of Theology.

He has participated in several Participatory Action Research projects, as well as in various national and international initiatives in Popular Bible Reading, Intercultural Bible Reading, and Contextual Bible Reading.

As part of his research work, he has accompanied groups of victims of the armed conflict in the Colombian departments of Sucre, Córdoba, Chocó, and Valle del Cauca. He has also supported grassroots organizations in some areas south of Bogotá and groups of women victims of gender violence in different parts of Colombia.

His main areas of research are hermeneutics, ethics, action theology, socioeconomic theological ethics, political theology, political philosophy, nonviolence, and peace education.
