Yeicy Lorena Echavarría Rentería, Attorney, holds a Master's degree in Human Rights - Culture of Peace and is a second-year PhD student in Legal Sciences at the Pontificia Javeriana University in Bogotá. I have experience in the field of human rights, specifically in providing services in complex contexts to vulnerable populations, victims of the armed conflict, and rural and ethnic communities. I also have experience formulating and implementing projects with national, regional, and local organizations. For the past six years, I have served in the Search Unit for Missing Persons and the Truth Commission. In these organizations, I gained training in the design and implementation of work plans with social, ethnic, and institutional organizations, in addition to advancing humanitarian and extrajudicial investigations within the context of complex armed conflict. Three research articles and a book chapter have been published as a result of the research projects in which I have participated. Documents address topics such as collective reparation, the judicialization of environmental conflicts, indigenous rights, and conflict resolution. These are issues that plague ethnic groups in Colombia, especially the Black communities of the Northern Pacific. In my role as a researcher, I have sought to contribute to the empowerment and autonomy of ethnic-territorial authorities as a means of building peace, justice, and reconciliation.
