He is a professor at the Faculty of Communication and Language at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He is a recognized researcher at COLCIENCIAS (ORCID: 0000-0002-4399-3394). He is part of the research group “Languages, Discourse, and Complexity,” which is classified as A1 by the National Science and Technology System in Colombia.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages from the Universidad del Tolima. He also holds a master's degree in Education and Social Development from CINDE and the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional. He holds a PhD in Intercultural Communication - ELT from Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom. He has a postdoctorate from the Research Program in Social Sciences, Children and Youth at the Universidad de Manizales, CINDE, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Sao Paulo PUC-SP, CLACSO, FLACSO, and El Colegio de la Frontera Norte in Tijuana, Mexico. He has been a visiting professor at various universities in the country: Universidad de Antioquia (UdeA), Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), Universidad Surcolombiana, Universidad Tecnológica de Tunja, Universidad de Córdoba, Uniamazonía, Universidad de los Andes, Universidad de la Sabana, Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN), and Universidad del Valle, where he currently teaches in the Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education program.
