Overview

Personal profile

I’m an Associate Professor in the Dept of Electronics Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ) in Bogota, Colombia. My current research involves the development of cutting-edge methods for autonomous systems, with a strong focus on AI-driven applied robotics, aiming at designing, developing and deploying smart robotic systems in the field. Over the years, I have led R&D projects in the areas of biologically inspired soft robots, UAV-based monitoring, precision agriculture & smart-farming, and robotic-aided bioengineering applications. Also, on advanced multi-omics phenotyping using robotics, AI and remote sensing approaches. I'm also author of the textbook ROBOTICA: ENFOQUE COMPUTACIONAL. Editorial Javeriana, Colombia, 2023. ISBN 978-628-7618-60-2. p.454

I’m also a wildlife & nature passionate photographer. Wildlife photography is heavily reliant on animal behavioral patterns. This is a passion I have from the last 16 years in the field. I specialize in capturing the artistic beauty of natural habitats and intimate moments with wildlife, relying on Nikon ℤ gear 📷 - My fine art frames are selected amongst my most beloved photographs from the unforgettable moments out there in nature. See portfolio. I'm also author of the photography book ALAS DE LA REGION ANDINA , Vol 1. 2021. Editorial Paramericana Formas e Impresos SAS. Colombia. ISBN: 978-958-49-4183-1. p.45
