Catalina Correa has been affiliated with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2025 and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She teaches at the School of Medicine and conducts research in the field of gastrointestinal congenital malformations.

She has developed several investigations related to anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung's disease at national and international level. She has been Medical Director and Chief of Scientific Research at Hospital Militar Central Colombia. She has also served as professor at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada in Bogota Colombia.

Her main research interests include anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung's disease, and chronic idiopathic constipation in children. She is also interested in medical ethics and its relationship to respect for the autonomy and dignity of individuals in the end-of-life process.

She has published a considerable number of original articles in reputable international peer-reviewed journals such as Seminars in Pediatric Surgery, Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Surgery International, The Lancet, and Universitas Medica. She is a reviewer for Frontiers on the topics of pediatrics and pediatric surgery.
