Personal profile

Vice President for Research and Professor at the Faculty of Legal Sciences. She holds a Doctorate in Juridical Science (S.J.D.) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Legal Theory from New York University (NYU); a Master's in Law from Universidad de los Andes; and a Law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

She is a member of the Social Justice Research Group. Her research focuses on criminal justice, access to justice, judicial administration, and women and the justice system. Her studies incorporate mixed research methods, including both qualitative and quantitative data. Based on her research, she has made recommendations for legal reforms, public policies, and innovations in judicial practices. One notable example is her leadership of the "Women and Prison in Colombia" project, whose findings influenced Law 2292 of 2023 and several judicial rulings in the country.

She has been invited as an expert in discussions by the Constitutional Court and the Ministry of Justice and Law. She has provided consultancy services for international organizations and public entities on criminal justice, judicial administration, and violence against women. She has also participated in training programs on criminal justice systems in various Latin American countries. She was a Fulbright Scholar and is currently a member of the Programs Advisory Committee for Fulbright Colombia.
