Ariel Svarch earned his PhD in History at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) in 2016. He specializes in modern Latin American history and cultural history. He has investigative experience in several areas: the modernizing projects in Latin America, transoceanic immigration to Latin America during the era of mass migration, and the experience of migrant ethnic minorities of life in Latin America in the early 20th century.
His job experience, beyond academica, includes teaching languages (English) and investigative journalism.
Ariel Svarch speaks and writes fluent English (C2 level), speaks and reads decent Yiddish (approximately B1/B2 level), and speaks and writes basic German (A1/A2 level). He has given interviews on Latin American and US/Latin American issues and recent events for print and audiovisual media for several South American outlets.
