Alexandra Pomares Quimbaya, Ph.D. is Director of Research and Full Professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. Throughout her career, she has worked in business intelligence, analytics, and data integration across academia, research, and consulting. She is currently focused on strengthening research capabilities among scholars in Colombia and the region, and on the analysis of unstructured data using natural language processing techniques and machine learning algorithms.

She serves as President of the University’s Committee on Digital Culture and Digital Development, contributing to institutional initiatives that promote data-informed decision-making and the responsible adoption of digital technologies. Her research interests include artificial intelligence and its applications in research, particularly the use of AI to enhance scientific workflows, improve the analysis of complex information, and support evidence generation.

Alexandra has been a visiting researcher at the Medical University of Graz (Austria), Aalborg University (Denmark), and the University of Jaén (Spain). She holds a BSc in Systems Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, an MSc in Systems and Computer Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, a PhD in Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Grenoble (France).
