When it began operating on September 7, 1977, the then called Emisora Javeriana became the first university radio station in the FM band in the country and also the first of its kind in Bogota. Its creation was due to Rector Alfonso Borrero, S.J. and the efforts of a group of enthusiastic collaborators, including Father Alberto Múnera, S.J.; the Dean of Communication, Francisco Gil Tovar; and professors Jimmy García Camargo, of Radio, and Raúl Henao, of Electronic Engineering, who donated and installed a 100-watt transmitter, the radiation system and a console.
