The Mystical Studies hotbed is an inter(indis)disciplinary space that seeks theoretical understanding, and the affective and daily experience of different forms of spirituality through research and creation, in tandem with intercultural dialogue. In a society where "the imperative of consumption diverts attention from spiritual demands [and where] the feeling of spiritual emptiness is increasing" (hooks 2021, p. 98), our study group questions the vital and creative importance of mysticism as a loving and full experience of life (Haas 2003).We propose how the recovery and updating of certain types of discourses and spiritual experiences can serve as ethical and political paths for the construction of a community fabric that questions its own existence and future, as well as the importance of intercultural, interreligious and ecumenical dialogue for processes of peace and creativity.
