Department of Theology

Organization profile

Organization profile

The Department of Theology is responsible for developing theological knowledge in accordance with criteria of high academic quality and social relevance. The dynamics of specialization, characteristic of modern knowledge, have also produced transformations in theology. For this reason, in the Department, theology focuses on diverse areas that correspond to specific specialized functions, according to different types of theological rationality.
In accordance with this dynamic of differentiation, the Department of Theology has channeled the teaching and research efforts of its professors into the areas of Biblical Theology, Systematic Theology, and Theology of Human Action.
This is how the Department promotes research and teaching, prophetically projecting theology toward the construction of a world ever closer to the Kingdom of God preached by Jesus, whose realization depends on believers' careful reading of the Word, their interpretation of history in light of what is revealed there, and their participation in the emancipatory dynamics taking place in the contemporary world.
