Organization profile

Those of us who participate in the Memory and Conflict Studies Collective believe in the transformative potential of memories as a tool to contribute to the construction of other possible futures. We declare ourselves as a network of young researchers who are committed to forms of knowledge production, claiming situated know-how and the leading place of affection, empathy and care.We understand memory as a political field where various actors and institutions dispute the activation of meanings about the past, present and future. We assume that far from functioning from linear and totalizing stories, memory allows us to recognize other temporal and spatial forms that question teleological and universal stories.Furthermore, in working with memory, we highlight its emotional, corporal, territorial, organizational, community and dissident dimensions. In addition to recognizing the conflictive nature of memory, we stand on the side of the transformative nature of memory in contexts of coloniality, racism, classism and patriarchy, claiming in the work and craftsmanship with it, the multiple expressions and formats from which it can be narrated and expressed. The Colectivx seeks to be a space to weave joint learning, to walk, look, think and do without exclusions, and where differences are recognized, as well as the multiple mobilizing energies of its participants to build and deconstruct in each vital act and place of enunciation.
