Ion channels are molecules that are expressed in excitable and non-excitable cells, where they perform functions related to the transduction of sensory stimuli, proliferation, differentiation, among other processes, and whose alteration is related to the development of various pathologies. This research incubator is focused on the study of the functional and structural aspects of BK-type channels and channels of the TRP family. BK channels are of great importance given their ability to integrate electrical signals and intracellular signaling. On the other hand, TRP channels are associated with thermal sensation and the transduction of pain stimuli.
