Description

The Process Automation Center, known as CAP, is a technological development center dedicated to professional training, engineering project development, applied science, technological product development, and technology transfer activities, focusing on industrial automation, robotics, intelligent manufacturing, and process control. It covers an area of 245 m², which includes zones for automation, robotics, machining, 3D printing, and prototyping. These areas overlap in some aspects and share equipment to optimize the use of resources and physical space. In this laboratory, the automation area has 4 stations for experimentation with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), an electropneumatic pick-and-place station, a pneumatic test bench, and a flexible manufacturing cell composed of the ASRS automatic warehouse, a conveyor belt, a CNC lathe station, a CNC machining station, and a robotic assembly station. The robotics area includes three Mitsubishi RV-M1 manipulators with 5 DoF, a UR-3 manipulator with 6 DoF, a 3-DoF gantry-type Cartesian robot, and a 3-DoF delta-type parallel robot. The machining area is equipped with a 4-axis CNC machining center (Denford TRIAC), a 3-axis CNC machining center (XH7126), a CNC lathe with motorized tools (TT3520), and a CNC lathe (Denford Cyclone). The 3D printing area features a Dremel 3D40 printer, a Prusa i3-type printer, two Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro printers, a Bambulab X1-Carbon printer with AMS, an Anycubic Photon X printer, and a Formlabs SLA printer. In the prototyping area, there are two work tables with four workstations each, a conventional lathe, a grinder, a bandsaw, a pillar drill, an injection molding machine, a hydraulic press, a sheet metal shear with a bending and rolling function (3-in-1), a 150W laser cutter, a thermoforming machine, electric hand tools, and manual tools, as well as a variety of materials and screws.
